Inspire Homes Wins Best Renovation Award
Inspire Homes Inc is thrilled to announce it has been awarded Best Renovation, $150,000 – $300,000, in the 2012 BILD Renovation & Custom Home Awards. The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) holds these awards annually, for builders and renovators in the Greater Toronto Area.
The winning project, located in a west Toronto neighbourhood, consisted of a 2nd storey addition to a small 829 square foot bungalow. Due to the narrow lot, no windows could be placed on the sides of the building, and the homeowner did not want the staircase to be moved. The solution was a creative floor plan which gives three second floor bedroom windows facing the front and back of the house, while the two second floor bathrooms are provided with natural light through sun tunnels.
The main floor of the house was completely renovated, with walls removed to create an open concept area. The expanded kitchen is the focal point of the main floor, with more space for living and dining areas.
The project was a design build project, with Inspire Homes responsible for design, building permits, and all construction. The project was designed by Inspire Homes in collaboration with the homeowner. Additional approval from committee of adjustment and the Toronto Conservation Authority were also required and obtained.
All entries for the awards are on display at the National Home Show in Toronto from March 16, 2012 to March 25, 2012. The 2012 Toronto Renovation and Custom Home awards are sponsored by Reno and Décor magazine, and winners will have their projects profiled in an upcoming issue.
